August 13 marks the birth anniversary of the late Sridevi. On the special occasion, Priyanka Chopra unveiled the cover of the book based on the legendary actor, titled Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi. Taking to her Instagram Stories space, Priyanka shared the cover of the biography and wrote, "The one and only. You are so missed. Happy heavenly birthday #Sridevi #Empress... coming soon." In the post, the actor pinned the iconic 'Hawa Hawaii' song from Mr India.
The book is expected to chronicle Sridevi's career, personal life, and legacy in detail, offering less-known facts about the iconic actor to readers. The cover of the book contains Amitabh Bachchan's tribute to the late actor, calling her "The epitome of unmitigated talent." The biography from author Dhiraj U Kumarr is expected to hit book shelves in the near future through publisher Westland Books.
Sridevi's husband, Boney Kapoor also shared Priyanka's post on his Instagram Stories space. Westland Books revealed the news about the official Sridevi biography being published three years ago.
For the unversed, she made her debut as a child actor with 1967's Kandhan Karunai. Her first role in Hindi cinema with the titular role in 1972's Rani Mera Naam. The actor had her first appearance in a lead role with 1976's Moondru Mudichu, directed by K Balachander. She would go on to deliver memorable performances in several films, including 16 Vayathinile (1977), Sigappu Rojakkal (1978), Johnny (1980), Moondram Pirai (1982), Sadma (1983), Mr India (1987), and ChaalBaaz (1989), among others.
Even in the latter stages of her career, she delivered acclaimed performances in films such as English Vinglish (2012) and Mom (2018). She has two daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, both of whom are actors themselves.
