Ohh My Dog, the only major Hindi release last week, has witnessed a gradual yet impressive growth at the box office over the weekend, Directed by Amit Rai, the family entertainer about human-dog relationship features Pavan Malhotra and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.

On Sunday, Ohh My Dog collected Rs 1.25 crore (nett), registering a 14 percent growth from its Saturday collections, according to Sacnilk. Playing at nearly 750 screens, the film surprisingly did better in the evening shows, compared to night shows.

Among all the centers, Ohh My Dog played at significantly more number of screens in Delhi than Mumbai, and performed much better in Mumbai and Pune than other cities. What also helped the film is the makers’ strategy of having special paid previews that helped build a strong word-of-mouth for the film before Friday. 

The film's domestic collections currently stand at Rs 3.25 crore (nett). Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 25 crores, the film needs to sustain a steady run over next 4 weekdays, and then hold its ground against big-ticket films like Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2 to emerge as a clean hit. 

Also written by Amit Rai, the film unfolds in two timelines, telling two stories at once —  While Appu (Mahi Rai) loses his indie dog Momo, who doesn’t return after running out to fetch a ball, Prince, a young labourer in Bihar goes missing, compelling his loyal dog Oscar to turn into a dog detective.

In our review for the film, we noted, “On a plot level, Ohh My Dog can feel a bit convenient at times. But the film hooks you with its emotions. You root for the characters. You want Appu to reunite with Momo, you want Oscar to rescue his Prince.”
