The official trailer of Emraan Hashmi Starrer Awarapan 2 was unveiled few days ago, with the film set for release on August 14. Nitin Kakkar helms direction for the film which also features Shabana Azmi and Disha Patani in the lead cast. A few days ahead of the film’s arrival, Mohit Suri, who had directed the predecessor Awarapan (2007), penned a long and heartfelt note for Awarapan 2 team.
Taking to Instagram where he shared the film’s trailer, Mohit wrote, “This one feels special. Like a long-lost love, like an old friend you haven’t met in years but still deeply miss. 19 years later, and this movie still matters so much to me.”
Thanking Awarapan 2 director Nitin Kakkar, Mohit added, “Thank you for bringing back something that is so close to my heart and for doing it with so much love, flourish, sensitivity and heart. To everyone who has worked on this film — most of you I know, have worked with before, and will continue to work with — you’ve done such a brilliant job. Watching this trailer brought back so many memories.”
Writing about his Awarapan star Emraan, Mohit added, “Emi, my hero — and always, always will be. I’m sure you have given this one your all, like you did to me 18 years back.”
The Saiyaara filmmaker also added gratitude notes for producer Vishesh Bhatt, writer Bilal Siddiqui and Disha Patani in his post, “Writing about Vishesh, I’ve passed on the baton to you, and now I can’t wait for the world to see what magic you have created.”
Awarapan (2007) marked the 3rd collaboration between Emraan and Mohit after Kalyug and Zeher, post which the two collaborated on three more films — Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009), Murder 2, (2011) and Crook (2010).
Meanwhile, Awarapan 2 is set for a massive box office clash against Sunny Deol starrer Batwara 1947 which too releases on August 14.
