Veteran actor Bharat Kapoor passes away

The actor was a prominent face in the 90s, both in movies and on television, known for his role in shows like Tara, Saans, and Parampara

Veteran actor Bharat Kapoor passed away at his Mumbai residence on Monday, following a cardiac arrest. The actor was 80 years old at the time of his demise.

Veteran actor and Bharat’s close friend Avatar Gill told PTI, “I got a call from Bharat ji’s son Rahul saying that his father passed away around 3:00 pm due to cardiac arrest at his residence. He was unwell for three days”.

Born in October 1945, Bharat began his film career with the 1971 film Badnam Farishte. The actor was very a prominent face in Hindi movies in the 1980s and 1990s, making frequent appearances in commercial cinema. Some of his most popular performances were in films like Bazaar (1981), Ghulami (1985), Khuda Gawah (1992) and  Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000).

In a career spanning over 30 years, Bharat Kapoor worked in more than 150 films.  One of his last major on-screen appearances was in the MF Hussain film Meenaxi (2004).  

Bharat Kapoor was also a part of many prominent Hindi TV shows like Parampara, Saans, Tara and Kahani Chandrakanta Ki.
