Randeep Hooda pens note for late photographer Raghu Rai

Randeep Hooda took to social media to share a note dedicated to photographer Raghu Rai, who passed away on April 26

Actor Randeep Hooda took to social media to pen a note for the legendary Indian photographer Raghu Rai, who passed away on Sunday (April 26). Photographer Raghu passed away at the age of 83.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the actor wrote, "Sad to hear of Raghu Rai's passing. His black and white frames told stories that captured the essence of the moment and enlightened us more about us. He lives on through these frames and his extraordinary gaze will forever be an inspiration. Om Shanti."

Raghu Rai was born on December 18, 1942, in Jhang (now in Pakistan). He was a protege of Henri Cartier-Bresson, who nominated him to join Magnum Photos in 1977. This became an achievement that catapulted him to global fame.

Some of his well known works have been documenting the aftermath of the Bhopas Gas Tragedy, document the banks of the Ganga, and potrait work of famous figures like former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Mother Teresa. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1972 and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 for his of service to photography.

The news of his passing was announced by his family on his official social media handle. His final rites was completed in New Delhi.
