Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, the Varun Dhawan starrer comedy entertainer, is slated for theatrical release on May 22. Directed by David Dhawan, the film features Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde as female leads. The first look teaser of the film, which was released last week, received backlash on social media for using AI-generated visuals. In a recent interview, David Dhawan addressed the subject, also clarifying that there is no AI used in the final film.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the veteran filmmaker said, “The teaser has got to do nothing (with the film). We just wanted to release something, instead of directly showing the trailer. When they showed me the teaser, I found it interesting. And this will keep coming in the next few years, like it’s happening abroad.”

On the subject of trolling, David Dhawan remarked, “Anyone who has a phone now can be a troll. These people haven’t even seen the film, yet are talking about it. I believe in the audience who goes to the theatres and watches the film. If the film is good, you can’t put it down. Ultimately, the film will speak.”

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which is being produced under Tips Films banner, marks fourth collaboration between David Dhawan and his son after Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and Coolie No 1.
