Riteish Deshmukh will be seen playing the legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji in his upcoming venture Raja Shivaji, which he also directs. The film is set for a multi-lingual theatrical release on May 1. The makers released the film’s official trailer at a grand ceremony on Monday, which was attended by the leading cast members including Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Genelia Deshmukh and Amole Gupte.
The Raja Shivaji trailer offers a brief glimpse of Shivaji’s journey as a warrior, beginning from his early years when he first learnt of the concept of ‘Swarajya,’ and in the coming years emerged as a fearless and ferocious warrior striving to attain Swarajya for Maratha empire against all enemies and rivals, which include the Mughal empire and Adilshahi.
The supporting cast also includes Fardeen Khan and Sachin Khedekar. Ajay Atul are composing music for the historical drama, while cinematography is by Santosh Sivan.
Produced by Genelia under Mumbai Film Company, Raja Shivaji will clash at the box office against Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi starrer Ek Din. The film will release in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
