Diljit Dosanjh and Imtiaz Ali, who previously collaborated on Amar Singh Chamkila, are coming back with another film titled Main Vaapas Aaunga. The period romance that also deals with Partition additionally stars Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari in prominent roles. On Saturday, the makers released the video for their first single, ‘Kya Kamaal Hai.’

Imtiaz Ali’s long-time collaborator AR Rahman has composed music for the film. Penned by Irshad Kamil, ‘Kya Kamaal Hai’ is a poignant ode to long-lost love and the nostalgia of olden times. Diljit Dosanjh has also rendered the song, lending it great vulnerability.

The music video captures a few innocent moments of meeting and tender romance between the characters played by Vedang and Sharvari. Interesting, both the song and the video end on an intense note, capturing the dark times of Partition where the protagonists are forced to part ways, but not without promises of meeting again.

In Main Vaapas Aaunga, Imtiaz is collaborating with writer Nayanika Mahtani. In the technical team, the film has cinematographer Sylvester Fonseca, and editor Aarti Bajaj.

Produced by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal in association with Mohit Choudhary and Shibhashish Sarkar, the period-romance will arrive in theatres on June 12.
