On Tuesday, Karan Johar shared photos on his official Instagram handle, where he was seen alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. Further, he also penned a long note in the caption.
On Meryl Streep he wrote, "This is not a caption. This is a confession. I am singularly obsessed and inspired by the unmatchable brilliance of Meryl Streep. In many ways she has been my guru in the art of acting & portraying characters across cinema!!"
Speaking about the original to their upcoming film, The Devil Wears Prada 2, he added, "I have watched The Devil Wears Prada no less than 47 times. I have quoted it at dinner tables, in edit suites and in board meetings (no kidding!) So when I tell you that standing next to HER & them today, I felt the ground shift, please believe me. I tried very hard to be calm and composed, but here’s another confession – my knees were RATTLING!"
Lastly, on his experience meeting them, he wrote, "They were both so warm and welcoming. This image is going in my will. Stay tuned; there’s so much more…because I had a chat with the favourites of the season. OH, and one more thing…that’s all."
The Devil Wears Prada (2006) follows a young fashion graduate, Andy, who begins working under Miranda for Runway Magazine. Struggling to keep up with the highs and lows of the new job, paired with a demanding boss, she strives to balance work-life relationships.
The film was a critical and commercial blockbuster. It won 23 awards, including the BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay and an Academy Award for Meryl Streep in the Best Performance by an Actress category.
The makers have also confirmed that Simone Ashley, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux and BJ Novak, among others, are starring in the sequel. The film is backed by 20th Century Studios and Wendy Finerman Productions. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to have its theatrical release on May 1.
On the film front, Karan Johar's last movie as a director is 2023's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Jaya Bachchan, among others. Since then, he has produced multiple films through his Dharma Productions banner and has made cameo appearances in many films.
