Thamma trailer: Vampire Ayushmann Khurrana takes on the enigmatic Nawazuddin Siddiqui in this Horror comedy

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles

The trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s horror-comedy Thamma was unveiled by the makers on Friday. Written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew and Arun Fulara and helmed by Munjya (2024) director Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.

The film has been presented as a 'bloody love story' between Ayushmann and Rashmika's characters, who play vampires. The trailer opens with the visual of Nawazuddin, who plays a character from folk stories, Betaal. He is preparing his army of thousands for a grand clash and declares himself as their leader. Later, Ayushmann has a conversation with Nawazuddin in the cave as the latter cracks a joke. The trailer then shifts to Ayushmann, who discovers changes in his body and Rashmika’s character tells him that he has turned into a vampire. His develops fangs and his eyes turn red, which is seen by Paresh, who plays his father. At one point, Paresh goes complaining to the police about his ‘monster son’. The trailer also features some high-octane action sequences and VFX-infused visuals that brings to life a thousand year old myth. There are fight scenes involving Ayushmann and Nawazuddin, with the former seen flying around, displaying his superpowers.

At the trailer launch of the film on Friday in Mumbai, Shraddha Kapoor, who starred in the Stree films, announced a new animated feature film titled, Choti Stree which is expected to come before Stree 3. The makers also unveiled a new logo of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe during the event which was attended by Ayushmann, Aditya, Niren, Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan.

Thamma features music and background score by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Amar Kaushik and co-produced by Sharada Karki Jalota, Pooja Prem Patheja, Thamma will be released in theatres on Diwali on October 21.
