Diljit Dosanjh and Amar Singh Chamkila nominated for International Emmy Awards

Amar Singh Chamkila is directed by Imtiaz Ali, with Diljit Dosanjh playing the titular character and AR Rahman composing the music

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which is based in the USA, announced the nominees for the International Emmy Awards. The Academy announced that among its nominees Diljit Dosanjh is nominated for his performance in Amar Singh Chamkila, with the film also being nominated.

Diljit is nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor, for his titular role as Amar Singh Chamkila. Meanwhile, the film is nominated in the category of Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was based on the late singer and his life leading up to his assasination. Imtiaz wrote the script along with Sajid Ali.

Parineeti Chopra playes the role of Chamkila's wife, Amarjot Kaur. The cast for the film also includes Apinderdeep Singh, Nisha Bano, and Rahul Mittra. AR Rahman reunites for the fifth time with Imtiaz Ali for Amar Singh Chamkila. The film was released in April 12, 2024, on Netflix.
