After getting sidelined at the box office as it clashed with Mohit Suri's Saiyaara on July 18, Anupam Kher’s Tanvi The Great is set to be re-released in theatres on September 26. The film marks Anupam’s second directorial after Om Jai Jagadish (2002) and also stars him along with debutante Shubhangi Dutt, Arvind Swami, Iain Glen, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, and Pallavi Joshi.

Anupam made the announcement of the re-release on Wednesday as he shared a promo and wrote in caption, “TANVI THE GREAT IN CINEMAS AGAIN: From a director’s heart to yours — a story of love, courage, and childlike purity. Releasing on 26th September! In Theatres! Please do watch!”

The film tells the story of a young autistic girl, who wants to join the Indian army in order to fulfil the dreams of her late father of honouring the Indian tricolor at the world’s highest battlefield – Siachen.

Speaking about the re-release in an interview with PTI, Anupam said, “I think second chances are very important in life. We get disappointed from the first chance but life should be hopeful.” The film is set to return in select screens across 17-18 cities. “One show at a time. And then we will see how it does. The risk is only for one week. The reward can be for 10 weeks,” Anupam said.

He also opened up about the film’s clash with Saiyaara and how he coped after it flopped at the box office. “I was upset, sad and even cried. If you work hard for anything and you don’t get the (desired) result, (you feel pain). But the idea is to not give up. We made a beautiful film and it got good reaction from everyone. So, I felt that we should, in a limited manner, try again,” he said.
