Varun Dhawan recently spoke about his equation with Sanya Malhotra at the trailer launch of their upcoming romantic-drama, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Varun called her a ‘national talent’ and said that he wants to work with her more in future.
Sanya was not present at the trailer launch of the film which took place on Monday in Mumbai. Varun was asked about her during the event and he answered playfully, saying, “Why did you say no to me, Sanya? Is it because you are a National Award winner?” Varun went on to praise Sanya wholeheartedly, adding: “I want to work lots more more with her and I think she’s someone who’s just like a national talent. Very few of these come through and she’s one of them. She’s just amazing. Thank you,” he said.
Sanya plays the character of Ananya in the romantic-comedy, who is the ex-girlfriend of Varun’s character, Sunny. In the trailer, Sunny is seen proposing to her dressed as Prabhas from Baahubali. However, she says no to him. Later, teaming up with Janhvi Kapoor’s Tulsi, Sunny decides to get back at Ananya.
Sanya had a special appearance in Varun’s last release, Baby John.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also stars Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Malhotra and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. It marks the second collaboration between Varun and Janhvi, following their first film together, Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which released in 2023.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan.
The film has been delayed twice before. First, it was scheduled to be released on April 18 which was pushed to September 12 later. It is now set to be released in theatres on October 2.
Sanya was seen earlier this year in the ZEE5 film, Mrs. She will be seen next in Anurag Kashyap's Bandar, which also stars Bobby Deol and was premiered recently at TIFF.
