Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files had a marginal rise in its box office collection on the second day of its release on Saturday. The film had a dismal opening of Rs 1.75 crore on Friday, which rose to Rs 2.15 crore on Saturday, a 22.8 per cent increase. It’s total collection currently stands at Rs 3.9 crore

The film features Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher.

The Bengal Files, on its second day, had its highest occupancy in Chennai at 73.33 per cent, followed by Bengaluru (65 per cent) and Pune (38 per cent). Mumbai and National Capital Region (NCR) had 30.50 per cent and 30.75 per cent occupancy, respectively. Since it was a weekend, night shows had the most number of takers at 40.23 per cent, followed by evening shows at 35.08 per cent, afternoon shows (29.20 per cent) and morning shows (15.11 per cent).

The Bengal Files released alongside Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt’s actioner Baaghi 4, whose two- day collection is way ahead than Vivek Agnihotri’s film and stands at Rs 21 crore.

Our review of the film read: “In Vivek Agnihotri’s cinematic world (it should be called The Files Universe), a country with currently mere 24 Muslim MLAs in the Lok Sabha, apparently has a ‘system’ in place that favours them. In this world, a Muslim is either a fanatic, an opportunistic politician, or a helpless girl willing to marrying at a young age because how else can you survive the religion’s patriarchy? The director paints everything and everybody in broad brushstrokes, presenting only the facts that further a particular agenda. But then, maybe facts are not facts.”
