Tanya Maniktala joins Rajkummar Rao in Aditya Nimbalkar’s next based on the education system

Tanya Maniktala and Rajkummar Rao are set to star in a film that looks at the systemic challenges faced by students

Tanya Maniktala, known for starring in the actioner Kill (2024), will be seen next alongside Rajkummar Rao in Sector 36 director Aditya Nimbalkar’s currently untitled film on India’s education system. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh in the lead.

According to sources, the film takes a hard look at the “academic pressures, emotional struggles, and systemic challenges faced by students and educators alike”. Tanya will be seen in a pivotal role that serves as the emotional anchor of the narrative.

“This film is deeply personal for everyone involved. Aditya has approached the subject with remarkable depth, and both Rajkummar and Tanya bring incredible depth to their parts. Tanya’s character, in particular, reflects the voice of many young Indians who are navigating the expectations and realities of a demanding system,” the source said.

Tanya has earlier starred in shows like, P.I. Meena, A Suitable Boy and Tooth Pari: When Love Bites. The actor recently seen in the crime-thriller series, Loot Kaand, which came out on Amazon MX Player.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar was last seen in the massy actioner, Maalik, which failed to bring numbers at the box office and was met with lukewarm reviews. It was directed by Pulkit and also starred Manushi Chhillar, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles. He will also be seen next in the biopic of former cricketer, Saurav Ganguly.
