Saiyami Kher is currently shooting in Kochi for her upcoming film Haiwaan, alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. Directed by filmmaker Priyadarshan, the film marks a milestone in Saiyami’s career as she collaborates with one of Indian cinema’s most iconic directors.
Sharing her excitement, Saiyami said ,“Working with Priyadarshan sir feels surreal. His body of work has been a huge part of my growing up years. I have watched and admired his films and now to be on his set as an actor feels really special.”
“I feel fortunate that I have had the chance to work with some of the finest directors in the country, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Anurag Kashyap, Neeraj Pandey, R Balki, Rahul Dholakia and now Priyadarshan sir. Each of them has taught me so much and I have grown not only as an actor but also as a human. I feel blessed that my journey has been shaped by such incredible storytellers. Shooting in Kochi has also been a beautiful experience. Being on set with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, who bring so much energy, discipline, and camaraderie, has been a complete joyride,” she added.
Haiwaan also features Shriya Pilgaonkar. The film brings together the trio of Akshay, Saif, and Priyadarshan for the first time and also reunites Akshay and Saif on screen after 17 years since their last outing in Tashan (2008).
The film, produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, is inspired by Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam (2016), though with significant changes to both dialogue and screenplay, as told by the filmmaker. The original film featured Mohanlal as a visually impaired man who becomes the unlikely protector of a judge’s daughter. Recently, Priyadarshan confirmed that Mohanlal will appear in a cameo role in Haiwaan.
