Homebound, director Neeraj Ghaywan's comeback film after 2015's Masaan, has been earning rave reviews from critics and audiences alike since its release earlier this year. The latest to shower the film with praise is Tamil filmmaker Pa Ranjith. Earlier this Saturday, he took to X and called it "Neeraj Ghaywan’s bold return after Masaan" and "a poetic, powerful film that marks a new wave for Indian cinema." The Madras and Kaala director congratulated the film's makers for making it India's Official Entry for the Academy Awards in 2026 for Best International Feature. He also poured his "big love to" the film's lead actors Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jehtwa, besides expressing "special kudos to Janhvi Kapoor for a brave, career-defining role."

Further describing it as a film that is "beautifully made, honest in content, and deeply rooted," Ranjith also expressed his gratitude to the whole team behind the film, including producer Karan Johar of Dharma Productions, "for bringing the film to life".

Homebound tells the story of two friends (Ishaan and Vishal) in North India who aspire to become police officers one day. However, bureaucracy, corruption and a biased society stand in their way and their goals. In our Homebound movie review, Namrata Joshi wrote that the film's authencitity "goes beyond the writing and the language" and that it is "in the realness of the spaces".
