Saif Ali Khan opened up about the time when he was attacked by an intruder with a knife earlier this year and shared new details about the harrowing experience. On the latest episode of Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle, Saif narrated how he fought with the knife-wielding intruder and got gravely injured in the process.
Saif said that it was around 2 am in the night and he had just finished watching a film with his sons, Taimur and Jehangir. Kareena Kapoor Khan had returned home and they had gone to sleep. After a while, Saif was alerted by his house help that an intruder was in Jeh’s room with a knife. "I barged into Jeh's room, and in the dark, I saw this guy standing over his bed with a knife. I jumped on him and we started fighting. And then, he went mad. He had these two knives, and he just started slashing all over me,” Saif recalled, adding how his house help pushed away the intruder and they managed to lock him in the room.
However, Saif was already injured in the spine by the blows from the knife. The actor shared how Taimur reacted when he saw Saif upstairs. Saif said, “‘Oh, my God! Are you going to die?' And I said, no, I don't think so. But I've got a pain in the back. I'm not going to die, I'm fine."
Saif got six wounds on his body with one just near his spinal cord that required emergency surgery. After describing the life-threatening struggle inside the house, Saif recounted what happened once the immediate danger had passed. “We stopped a rickshaw. And at the last minute, Timur said he wanted to come with me. And I was getting a lot of peace looking at him. It was weird. There was a lot of adrenaline. There was a lot of calm. So, all decisions were taken,” he said.
When they reached the hospital, Saif had to drop his name for the staff members to act swiftly. He recounted, “We walked into the hospital. They were all sleepy in the emergency area. I told a guy, ‘Can you get a stretcher?’ And he said, ‘Wheelchair.’ I said, ‘No, I think I need a stretcher.’ So, he said, ‘No.’ Then finally I said, ‘Hey, hey’ — because he wasn’t waking up. I said, ‘I’m Saif Ali Khan. This is a medical emergency.’ And he went, ‘Oh’”.
Saif was later discharged from the hospital after being treated.
The actor was last seen in the heist-thriller, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, which came out on Netflix.
