Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is the latest among films based on the Hindu pantheon, which is getting a retelling, with the latest technical tools being used in its making.
At the WAVES bazaar of the International Film Festival of India, Goa, director Nitesh detailed that film's objective is to create something that the world hasn't seen before, and create a new standard, reported Variety. The director also detailed that the film aimed to be on par with the top VFX heavy projects in the world, in terms of technical specifications.
According to the director Ramayana has been in virtual production for five years. Ramayana is set to be released in two parts, with the first part releasing on Diwali 2026 and the second part on Diwali 2027.
The film will also see the first collaboration between two Oscar winning composers AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Earlier, speaking to PTI, Rahman said of Zimmer, "I’ve known him since 2009, and he always had valuable insights to share with me. I have great respect for him." Kumar Vishwas is writing lyrics for the film.
The cast of Ramayana is headlined by Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as Ravana. The cast of the film also includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Yash is also serving as a co-producer on the film.
