Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on Monday, a week after he was discharged from the hospital. He was 89.
The legendary star and the ‘He-Man’ of Hindi cinema was cremated at Mumbai’s Pawan Hans crematorium in presence of his family members and colleagues from the industry. As per videos shared by paparazzi pages, Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Salim Khan, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Rajkumar Santoshi, Anil Sharma, Siddharth Roy Kapur and several others visited the crematorium to pay their last respects to the actor.
On Monday morning, an ambulance was seen outside Dharmendra’s Mumbai residence. Shortly after, videos surfaced online showing his daughter Esha Deol and his wife Hema Malini arriving at the crematorium.
While there has been no official statement from the family on Dharmendra’s demise, tributes have poured in from every corner. Celebrities like Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani, among others, took to social media to remember the actor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Highways minister Nitin Gadkari and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also mourned the loss of a cinema legend.
Dharmendra was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on October 31 but was later discharged on November 12 and was recuperating at home.
