The trailer of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar was unveiled on Tuesday and it received varied response of social media. While some lauded the director’s vision, others criticised the violence shown and labelled it gratuitous. Among the critics was also YouTuber Dhruv Rathee who slammed the trailer and called the torture shown in it “equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings.”

Dhruv took to X on Tuesday hours after the film’s trailer was released online and wrote, “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it “entertainment.”

He added that Aditya’s “lust for money is so unhinged” that he “is willingly poisoning the minds of the young generation, desensitizing them to gore and glorifying unimaginable torture.”

Dhruv also urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to look into the film’s extreme violence. “This is the chance for Censor Board to show if have a bigger problem with people kissing or watching someone get skinned alive,” he concluded.

In the trailer, there are two exceptionally gory scenes. One of them has Arjun Rampal, who plays an ISI head, skinning a person alive and another has Akshaye Khanna’s character bashing a person’s head in with a stone.

Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles. The actioner is scheduled to release in theatres on December 5.
