Earlier, we reported about Priyadarshan helming a film titled Haiwaan, starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles. The film is based on his 2016 directorial Oppam, starring Mohanlal in the lead. The other day, Priyadarshan shared a photograph from the sets of the film that features him alongside Saif Ali Khan and Mohanlal. The filmmaker captioned the post, "Look at life and the way it turns... Here I am, on the shooting sets of HAIWAN, working with the son of one of my biggest cricket heroes and my favourite film icon. Truly, God is kind." Priyadarshan was referring to Saif, whose father Tiger Pataudi is a legendary Indian Cricket Team captain and batter, and his favourite actor Mohanlal.

In the photograph, both Saif and Mohanlal can be seen with walking sticks and sporting sun glasses. Mohanlal played the role of a blind man who 'witnesses' a murder in the 2016 film and must protect a child from a killer who is closing in on them. Saif also stars in the same role in the Hindi remake of Oppam. Earlier, Priyadarshan revealed that it would also have Mohanlal in a cameo role.

Recently, Akshay Kumar shared that the film has entered its final production schedule. The film reunites Priyadarshan with Akshay after 2010's Khatta Meetha; they are also working on Bhooth Bangla. Both Haiwaan and Bhooth Bangla star the late Asrani. On the other hand, the Oppam remake brings Akshay and Saif back together after 2008's Tashan.

Produced by KVN Productions' Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn's Thespian Films, the film's cast also includes Saiyami Kher. The makers are planning a 2026 release for the film.
