Tumbbad director Rahi Anil Barve took to social media on Friday to unveil the motion poster of his next Mayasabha. The film stars Jaaved Jaafferi in the lead.

As per previous reports, Rahi had started working on the film in 2018 after Tumbbad and it was finished in 2020 but remained unreleased.

The poster shows Jaafferi in long, greying hair with a mask covering his gold-layered face. “A decade ago, we unleashed a madness — an experiment too strange, unspeakable even for those who dare to fathom the abyss. The curse is finally broken. The mysterious world of Parmeshwar Khanna (Jaaved Jaaferi) will finally see the light. Enjoy your gold hunt,” reads the caption.

Earlier in an interview with MensXP, Jaaferi had spoken about the film’s plot, “It’s about a film producer who was like a Karan Johar of his time and he launched people and he launched a girl and fell in love and married her. In short, the girl and a hero that he also launched, they supposedly fell in love too and they ran away and took a lot of his money.”

“Now, after 20 years, the only thing he owns is this dilapidated theatre which is in shambles with cobwebs and dust everywhere and nobody comes there now. And he has a paranoia with mosquitoes and there is a reason for it. So, he wears this mask and there is a huge smoke machine and he walks around with that and he’s got a 14-year-old son who is also slightly off because of living in this space. And then the son goes out one day and brings two people in. Now, the story is about what happens between these four people. There is an element of something that these two new people know and they find out and then it’s a cat and mouse happening within this space. It’s one of the best scripts I have done,” he added.

Apart from this, Rahi is also working on two subsequent parts in the Tumbbad trilogy: Pahadpangira and Pakshitirtha. He is also part of the creative team behind Raj & DK’s upcoming series Gulkanda Tales and Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.
