Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji’s romantic-comedy Hum Tum will be re-released in theatres on May 16, the makers announced through a press release on Thursday. Directed by Kunal Kohli, the film was produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. It also starred Rishi Kapoor, Kirron Kher, Rati Agnihotri and Jimmy Sheirgill in pivotal roles.

Hum Tum tells the story of Karan Kapoor (Saif), a cartoonist, and Rhea Prakash (Rani) as they cross paths in a flight. They don’t feel a connection at first but luck brings them together to kindle a stirring romance. It is loosely inspired by the Hollywood film, When Harry Met Sally (1989).

The film’s songs, composed by Jatin-Lalit, became popular, with quirky numbers like ‘Ladki Kyon’ and ‘Chak De’ along with the heartfelt title song, ‘Hum Tum’.

It originally released in theatres on May 28, 2004 and received mixed reviews, with praise for its soundtrack and performances and criticism for the inconsistencies in the script. The film did well at the box-office, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of the year.
