Oscar-contender Putul director announces next with Neeraj Kabi and Divya Dutta

The yet-to-be-titled film will be about an Indian Army family

Filmmaker Indira Dhar, whose Bengali debut Putul was in contention to be sent for the Oscars, has announced her next project, a Hindi film starring Divya Dutta and Neeraj Kabi. Although more details on the film is under wraps, it will be about an Indian Army family.

The Kolkata-based filmmaker’s debut feature Putul was in contention at the Oscars this year, alongside All We Imagine As Light and Girls Will Be Girls. The film was considered in two Academy Award categories: Best Picture and Best Original Song.

Speaking about her upcoming Hindi film, Indira shared, "I am thrilled to be making my Bollywood debut with this film, starring the incredible Divya Dutta and Neeraj Kabi. We are in the final stages of completing this project, which is a biopic, centered around an Indian Army family. We’re still in the process of locking a title for the film.”

When it comes to other projects, in theatres Neeraj was last seen in Sam Bahadur (2023) in the role of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru while Divya was recently seen in Chhaava essaying the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s stepmother Soyarabai Bhonsle.
