Radhika Apte to make her directorial debut with Vikramaditya Motwane backed action-fantasy Kotya

The film tells the story of a young migrant sugarcane cutter who gains superpowers and uses them to free her family off debt

Radhika Apte is set to make her directorial debut with the action-fantasy film Kotya. It will be produced by Vikramaditya Motwane. The announcement of the film was made as part of the CinéV-CHD market lineup of the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF).

As per a report in Variety, “The Hindi/Marathi action-fantasy follows a young migrant sugarcane cutter who gains superpowers after a forced medical procedure and uses them to free her family from debt.”

Other titles unveiled as part of the lineup involve a film in Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri backed by Hansal Mehta, an English/Hindi film directed and produced by Nandita Das and a Malayalam drama co-produced by Kani Kasruti among others.

Radhika was last seen in the black-comedy Sister Midnight, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. She will be seen next in the Netflix show Akka.
