Emraan Hashmi’s military-thriller Ground Zero has started streaming on Prime Video, the makers announced on Friday. Directed by Tejas Deoskar, the film also stars Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, and Mukesh Tiwari in pivotal roles.

Inspired by real events, the film is set in Kashmir. Emraan plays the role of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who along with his team led an operation to uncover the mastermind behind the 2001 Parliament attack. This operation ultimately led to the identification and elimination of the terrorist mastermind Ghazi Baba in 2003.

Speaking up earlier about playing the role, Emraan said, “I underwent months of physical training, followed a strict diet, and completely altered my routine to step into their mindset. It wasn’t just about wearing the uniform—it was about earning it. What they do for our country is beyond extraordinary—and I wanted to honour that with complete authenticity.”

Ground Zero is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and was released in theatres on April 25.

CE’s review of the film reads, “In its urgent bid to be sympathetic, Ground Zero becomes simplistic. Currently when emotions are soaring high over Kashmir, Narendra’s sensitivity can feel quixotic. However, it’s admirable to see the film stick to its guns and not resort to clarion calls for revenge. When Emraan’s Narendra raises a war cry: “Ab pehredaari nahi, prahaar hoga (Defence days are over, time for offence)” it didn’t hit home. The jingoism felt unconvincing, put on. One for the masses.”
