Mouni Roy’s upcoming spy-thriller series Salakaar will be released this year on August 15 on JioHotstar, the makers announced on Wednesday. It is directed by Faruk Kabir, known for helming the thriller, Khuda Haafiz (2019). As per a press release shared by the makers, the series is inspired by true events. “It follows a young Indian spy on a covert mission that uncovers hidden truths and national secrets,” the makers said.

Speaking of the series, Faruk said, “Salakaar is not just a spy thriller, it’s a deeply emotional narrative about fractured legacies and the cost of silence. We’re looking at espionage not only as a mission but as a burden, as a debt that passes from one generation to another.”

Salakaar is produced by Sphereorigins and Mahir Films. The makers have not yet revealed the details of other cast members. Mouni had posted photos from the shoot in December last year. She had completed shooting for the show in January.

The actor was recently seen in the horror-comedy, The Bhootnii, which also starred Sanjay Dutt.
