Director Mohit Suri’s return to the romantic genre, Saiyaara, is creating buzz even before its release. Eventhough the film stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, it is still headed towards becoming the film with second highest ticket sales in advanced bookings.
As per Pinkvilla, the film has sold 1,20,000 tickets in top three national chains and is fast racing towards the 2,00,000-ticket mark in PVRInox and Cinepolis. Currently, the film, resting on shoulders of new actors, has surpassed star-driven vehicles in advance ticket sales like Housefull 5 (94,750 tickets), Raid 2 (93,000 tickets), and Sitaare Zameen Par (49,750 tickets). It is only trailing behind Salman Khan’s Sikandar (1,43,000 tickets). The number one advance booking of 2025 was for Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (2,23,000 tickets).
For a film which is not part of a franchise (although audiences are making the surrogate connect with Aashiqui 3), helmed by newcomers and not from action-genre, this is an impressive feat. Trade experts are predicting that the film might open in double digits, somewhere between Rs 15 and Rs 20 crore. The film’s advances are touted to be more than twice of much bigger romantic films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani (2023) and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023).
Saiyaara is directed by Mohit Suri and written by Sankalp Sadanah. Rohan Shankar has penned the dialogues. It is the first film being produced by YRF’s CEO, Akshaye Widhani. It is presented by Aditya Chopra.
Ahaan’s debut was announced in February last year. The nephew of actor Chunky Panday, he was signed as a YRF Talent almost about six years back to go through intense training programmes devised personally by Aditya. A source at that time had said, "Ahaan has been shaped by Aditya Chopra personally for years. He has been kept under wraps by YRF so that he can focus on bettering his craft."
Aneet, on the other hand, previously featured in the series Big Girls Don’t Cry (2024).
