The trailer of Shahid Kapoor’s Deva was unveiled by the makers on Friday. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulatie, Pravessh Rana and Kubbra Sait in pivotal roles. It is written by Bobby Sanjay, Hussain Dalal Abbas Dalal, Arshad Syed and Sumit Arora.

The trailer opens with grim, desaturated visuals of Mumbai as the voiceover of Shahid plays in the background, speaking about taking revenge from the gangsters for killing a cop. He vows to take revenge by going into every nook and corner of the city. There are visuals of him beating gangsters with rods, guns and fists. He is told by seniors to keep his ‘hooliganism’ under control. “Are you a cop or mafia?”, he is asked rhetorically. He beats up a person and whispers in his ears, “I am mafia”. The film promises to be a raw actioner, with Shahid continuing his angry persona from earlier films.

The film has been shot by Amit Roy and edited by A. Sreekar Prasad. It features music composed by Vishal Mishra and lyrics by Raj Shekhar.

Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Umesh KR Bansal, Deva is set to be released in theatres on January 31.
