Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light and Sandhya Suri’s Santosh have secured nominations at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, 2025.

While Payal’s Grand Prix winner has been nominated in the ‘Film Not in the English Language’ category alongside Emilia Perez, I’m Still Here, Kneecap and The Seed of The Sacred Fig, British-Indian director Sandhya’s Santosh--which was also UK’s official entry to the Oscars--has been selected under the ‘Outstanding debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer’ category.

Other nominations in the category are Dev Patel for his actioner Monkey Man, Karan Kandhari for the horror-comedy Sister Midnight, starring Radhika Apte, Rich Peppiatt for Kneecap and Luna Carman for Hoard. Producers James Bowsher and Balthazar de Ganay share the nomination with Sandhya.

All We Imagine As Light has been making waves around the world since its Grand Prix win at Cannes Film Festival, 2024. It was nominated in the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ and Payal for ‘Best Director’ categories at Golden Globes recently but lost out to Emilia Perez and Brady Corbet for The Brutalist, respectively. On the other hand, Santosh has won ‘Best screenplay’ and ‘Best Breakthrough Producer’ awards at the British Independent Film Awards last year.
