The trailer for SonyLIV’s next period-drama The Waking of a Nation was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Directed by Ram Madhvani (Aarya, Neerja), the show features Tarruk Raina, Nikita Dutta, Sahil Mehta, and Bhawsheel Singh Sahni, among others. The series is set around the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and the Hunter Commission’s inquiry which followed. It follows lawyer Kantilal Sahni (Tarruk) who is trying to unearth the conspiracy behind the massacre and is fighting tooth and nail to bring out the truth as the Brits conspire to hide it.

"It’s more than just a show—it's my way of highlighting India's rich history and the struggles we’ve faced,” said creator, director and co-producer Ram. “Sharing the story set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the hidden conspiracy surrounding it holds a deeply personal significance for me.”

Tarruk added, “This isn't just a show, it's a tribute to the countless, often forgotten, individuals who sacrificed for India's independence. Playing Kantilal Sahni, a man caught between duty and truth, has been both a challenge and an honour.”

The series will start streaming on SonyLIV from March 7.
