Amidst Dhurandhar’s uninterrupted run and also Avatar: Fire and Ash in theatres, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s rom-com Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has managed to have a single digit opening. The Sameer Vidwans directorial made just Rs 7.25 crore on its first day, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The Day 1 collection of the Dharma film is one-fourth of Dhurandhar’s opening. Even Avatar’s third part managed Rs 19 crore on its first day.

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri had the most theatre occupancy in Jaipur at 60.75 per cent, followed by Chennai at 45.25 per cent. Mumbai and National Capital Region (NCR) stood at 43.25 per cent and 43.50 per cent respectively. Evening shows had most number of takers with 41.36 per cent, followed by night screenings at 40.23 per cent, afternoon shows (38.48 per cent) and morning shows at 18.18 per cent.

Kartik’s last release was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 on Diwali last year. It opened at Rs 35.5 crore across languages. Ananya was last seen in the Akshay Kumar headliner Kesari: Chapter 2 which also had a similar opening as Tu Meri Main tera Main Tera Tu Meri at Rs 7.84 crore.

Apart from commercial outcome, the film also didn’t sit well with the critics. CE’s review of the rom-com read: “Tu Meri Main Tera… is essentially reheated DDLJ for the reel-swiping generation. The writing is so social-media coded for “youth-connect” that it feels corny and derivative. There are mentions of ‘pasandida aurat’, the TV show Friends, the long wait for season 5 of Stranger Things and an abysmal line which translates to “In between talks, you are sliding in the DMs of my eyes.”
