It's official. Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar has broke open gates to enter into the coveted arena of Rs 1000 crore grossers. Two years after Ranbir Kapoor's Animal breached the milestone, the Aditya Dhar-directed spy action drama has made its way to enter the club. The film's current global total stands at Rs 1006.7 crore, out of which Rs 789.18 crore was collected from India and its overseas revenue is at Rs 217.50 crore.
Released earlier this month on December 5, Dhurandhar has been raking in over Rs 200 crore in collections every week. On Christmas day alone, it minted over Rs 28 crore. The film has been steadily dethroning major box office hits and had recently surpassed the lifetime collection of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 to become the highest earning Indian film in 2025. It has also become the first Indian film of 2025 to cross the Rs 200 crore gross mark in overseas markets, beating Rajinikanth's Coolie, underlining its massive international appeal. Even with the release of James Cameron's blockbuster action adventure Avatar: Fire and Ash, audiences continued flocking to theatres to catch Dhurandhar.
Dhurandhar follows the story of an Indian intelligence operative (Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari), who infiltrates Pakistan's underworld at the behest of an Indian spymaster Ajay Sanyal (Madhavan). The film has been receiving rave reviews from celebrities and fans following its release, but is also criticised for catering to right-wing ideologies and its hyper violent narrative.
The cast also features Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, R Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as Chaudhary Aslam, and Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal of the ISI. Sara Arjun took on the role of the female lead for the first time in this film after being part of several projects as a child actor.
As reported earlier, Dhurandhar 2 is set for a March 19, 2026, release in theatres. Apart from Hindi, the film's makers are set to release its sequel in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu as well.
