Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming comedy series Single Papa. Headlined by Kunal Kemmu, Single Papa is premiering on the platform on December 12.
Neeraj Udhwani and Ishita Moitra have created Single Papa and serve as co-producers on the series. Neeraj also directs the series along with Shashank Khaitan, who also serves as an executive producer, and Hitesh Kewalya. Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan are producing the series under the Juggernaut Productions banner.
The story of the series follows Gaurav Gehlot (Kunal Kemmu), a 30-year old whose is still pampered by his parents. In order to make a change Gaurav adopts a baby and has to deal with the oncoming challenges thrown at him.
Speaking about the series Kunal said, "Playing Gaurav has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. The character is flawed, funny, and fiercely loving… just like so many real-life single parents. I think audiences will see themselves and their families in this show. The warmth of every character is what makes this show so special and wholesome!”
Social media personality Prajakta Koli (known through her handle @MostlySane), portrays Gaurav's sister Namrata. Talking about the series Prajakta said, “Single Papa highlights what a perfectly imperfect Indian family looks like. Noisy, loving, opinionated, dramatic but always there for each other. I am a single child so I never understood what bickering with siblings felt like before Single Papa. The banter with Kunal, the arguments, the affection, just flowed naturally. I think it’s a perfect show to binge watch with your family.”
In Single Papa, Neha Dhupia essays the role of Romilla Nehra, who is staunchly against Gaurav adopting the baby. “As a parent myself, what touched me the most about Single Papa is how honestly it portrays the chaos, tenderness and imperfections that make families what they are. Parenting is never linear, never perfect, and the show captures that beautifully. It blends humour and heart in a way that feels deeply real. The cast of the series also includes Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza, Suhail Nayyar, Dayanand Shetty, Aisha Ahmed, Dhruv Rathee and Isha Talwar, among others.
