Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi and director Subhash Kapoor have been summoned by a Pune civil court for allegedly disrespecting lawyers in their upcoming courtroom-drama Jolly LLB 3 after a petition was filed by lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan. The court has directed the three to appear in person on October 28 at 11 am.

According to the lawyer, the film mocks the legal system and disrespects court proceedings. In the plea, he objected to the negative portrayal of the legal profession and raised concerns over a scene where judges are called by the slang "mama".

Speaking to ANI, Wajed said, "There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong. The court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi and the director to be present .. "

The complaint was originally filed in 2024 after the release of the film's first teaser. The case has resurfaced as the film nears its release date.

While the original Jolly LLB was about Arshad’s Jagdish Tyagi, an inconsequential lawyer who argues against Boman Irani’s elite advocate Tejinder Rajpal in a hit-and-run case, Jolly LLB 2 (2017) features Akshay as Jagdishwar Mishra, a shady lawyer who gets a call of conscience when a pregnant woman commits suicide because of his bluff.

The film’s teaser was unveiled earlier which featured Jagdish in the courtroom of Judge Tripathi played by Saurabh Shukla. Facing him in court is Jagdishwar. Hilarity ensues as the two advocates argue in court and what follows is a volley of quick comebacks, witty digs, and playful courtroom chaos.

Presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare, the film also features Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao.

Jolly LLB 3 is scheduled to release in theatres on September 19.
