The teaser of Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s romantic horror-comedy Thama was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. The film has been directed by Munjya (2024) fame Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under their Maddock Films banner.

The teaser opens with a voiceover. Ayushmann’s Alok asks Rashmika’s Tadaka. “Will you be able to live without me for 100 years?” to which she replies, “100? I can’t live a second without you.” Then in blink-and-miss scenes we see Ayushmann leaping from trees and rescuing Rashmika from falling from a building. There is also a glimpse of a historical empire and in another scene Ayushmann is seen being mauled by a bear, a scene uncannily similar to the fate of Leonardo Di Caprio’s character from The Revenant (2015). In another scene, Rashmika and Ayushmann kiss and as it is cut, the antagonist, Yakshasan, played by Nawazuddin, is revealed. “Why did you stop?” he says. “I have not seen a romance in the last 75 years.” The teaser also hints at an item number by Malaika Arora.

On Monday, the characters of Thama were introduced by the makers. Ayushmann plays the protagonist, "humanity's last hope" Alok, Rashmika is Tadaka, while Nawazuddin is “king of darkness” Yakshasan. Paresh Rawal is essaying the role of Ram Bajaj Goyal, seemingly a play on his iconic character Ram Gopal Bajaj from Andaz Apna Apna (1994).

Thama is touted to be a love story in which Ayushmann is slated to play a vampire. As reported by Pinkvilla earlier, Thama is expected to be set in two different time periods - the present north Indian city and the Vijayanagara Empire. Nawaz plays the main antagonist, a violent character from centuries ago who is looking to take revenge in the present time.
