At the end of the third day of the release, War 2 still faces some tough competition from the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. War 2 collected Rs 33.25 crores at the Indian box office at the end of Day 3, according to box office tracker Sacnilk.

The film opened strongly, collecting Rs 52 crores on August 14, the day of its release. The collections then surged on Day 2, netting Rs 57.35 crores, on the occasion of India's 79th Independence Day. The film collected Rs 142.6 crores totally at the Indian box office at the end of Day 3. Meanwhile, Coolie has collected Rs 158.35 crores at the end of Day 3.

The film sees the return of Hrithik Roshan as Kabir from Siddharth Anand's War. RRR star Jr NTR goes head-to-head against Hrithik, with the rest of the cast consisting of Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana, returning from the previous film.

The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji, who directs the film from a script by Sridhar Raghavan. The review of the film from CE, reads, "War 2 is an unnecessary addition to an already bloated YRF Spy Universe. It is a factory-line product, assembled purely to cash-in on an established franchise."
