Kangana Ranaut is often a central part of some contentious public discourse or the other. She is making headlines now for her recent comments about online dating. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Kangana said that the online dating space is "gutter," suggesting that it is a "crude" and lowbrow way for individuals to search and find partners. "We all have needs. I have financial needs as a woman. Men have physical needs. Do we address that elegantly and in a sophisticated way? Or, do we address it crudely?" the actor and BJP MP said. She also questioned the culture of going out for a late-night date, calling it a "horrible" practice. "Main toh usko neech category hi sochungi (I would only consider it a lower category)".

The actor went on to share that she cannot even imagine being in touch with people who use dating apps and "do such practices". She suggested that those who use dating apps on a regular basis have sex with multiple individuals. "If you are a regular person without any issues, I do not think that you would want to use a dating app. Interaction with one person should be consuming enough for you," Kangana said. The actor added that regular dating app users seek "validation," which she attributed to lack of confidence. "When a woman attracts a boy, she is getting a 'kick' out of it as it is a sign of validation," the actor stated. She also suggested therapy as an alternative way for those dating app users to deal with their "issues".

On the work front, Kangana last played Indira Gandhi in the much-talked-about film Emergency, which she also directed. She has completed shoot for a thriller with her co-star R Madhavan and director AL Vijay. The film, hailing from producer Trident Arts' R Ravindran, brings Kangana and Madhavan back together after 2015's Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
