The sci-fi horror series, Alien: Earth premiered on FX on August 12. Created by Noah Hawley, the show stars Erana James, Essie Davis and Adarsh Gourav in pivotal roles. While the series explores grim themes, the actors recently spoke about how they bonded over the Aamir Khan film, Lagaan and other lighter things while shooting for it.
In an interview Etimes, Erana shared her experience of working with Adarsh and said, “I got to have weeks, and at some point, months, of training with him, finding the inner child. We played a lot of music, a lot of instruments, just a lot of play to find that inner child."
David added, “No, he didn’t introduce me to any of those (Indian sci-fi films)! I’m going to have to go have words with him about that! But one of my favourite films ever is Lagaan, so we bonded over that on the first day we met. He actually sang a lot of beautiful Indian music to us. He’s a beautiful singer, a fantastic actor, and a super delightful man. It was really good fun working with Adarsh."
Alien: Earth blends elements from Ridley Scott’s 1979 original Alien film and the 1986 follow-up Aliens, but with a fresh narrative set 30 years before the original movie. It takes place when a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth; a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat.
Gourav has appeared earlier in international productions like the anthology miniseries, Extrapolations which released on Apple TV+ and The White Tiger. He was last seen in Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon. The actor has Bejoy Nambiar’s Tu Yaa Main in the pipeline which also stars Shanaya Kapoor. He will also be making his Telugu film debut with an untitled psychological thriller.
