The teaser of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Nishaanchi was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The crime-drama-comedy marks the debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, in a double role. It also features Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra.

The teaser opens with a filmy style qawwali and you are transported into a world brimming with music, dance, high-octane action, unfiltered drama, and double-trouble. We are introduced to Babloo Nishaanchi (Aaishvary Thackeray), a flamboyant local hero with swagger to spare, grooving with the equally fierce Rinku (Vedika Pinto), who matches his madness. There is also Dabloo (also played by Aaishvary), who is as much a straight-arrow as Babloo is street-smart. There is also Amma (Monika Panwar) in the role of Dabloo’s mother. The teaser then rolls out a lineup of quirky characters: there’s the unpredictable Kamaal Ajeeb (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) and Ambika Chacha (Kumud Mishra), a gangster, calm on the surface but layered with intrigue. The teaser is fully-filmy with energetic music and a lot of whistle-worthy moments.

As per an earlier press release Nishaanchi has been described as “a film delves into the complex lives of two brothers who walk starkly different paths, uncovering how their choices shape their destinies.”

Speaking about the film earlier, Anurag had said, “We wrote Nishaanchi in 2016. Since then, I have been looking to make this film the way it should be, and was looking for a studio who trusted me to do that, whole heartedly. Amazon MGM loved it, believed in it, and became the wall behind us. This is exactly what happened with all my films that people love - they were backed by great producers and great studios.”

Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, the movie is written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel and Anurag Kashyap. The film will release in theatres on September 19.
