A week after the release of Sunny Deol’s actioner Jaat, the makers of the film announced through social media that it will have a sequel. Sunny took to Instagram to share a poster from the film and captioned the post, “Jaat on a new mission!”

As per the poster, Jaat’s director Gopichandh Malineni will be returning for the sequel. The details of the cast, however, have been kept under wraps.

Jaat released on April 10 and also stars Randeep Hooda, Regina Cassandra and Saiyami Kher, among others. In a week since its release, the film has made about Rs 58 crore at the box office, according to reports. It also received a middling response from the critics. Reportedly, a sequence featuring Randeep Hooda at a church has courted controversy, with a protest breaking out in Punjab.

An excerpt from our review of the film reads: “But it was not like Jaat was completely devoid of promise. It had all elements of a mass-entertainer: themes of social justice, a popular actor in his second-innings, a formidable antagonist, even an Upendra Limaye cameo, just that all of it was oddly assembled to make a threadbare plot.”
