The teaser of Kamal aur Meena was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. The film recounts the love story of filmmaker Kamal Amrohi, known for making films like Mahal (1949), Pakeezah (1972), Razia Sultan (1983), and actor Meena Kumari. The film is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra (Maharaj, Hichki) with AR Rahman serving as the music director and Irshad Kamil and Kausar Munir as the lyricists.

The teaser features voiceover of a man and a woman as they speak to each other lovingly and the intertitles reveal the brooding love between ‘a filmmaker and his muse’. The text further reads, “Their star-crossed love story. A dream that refused to die. A love that went beyond the grave."

Sanjay Dutt shared the teaser of the film and wrote a short note to Saachi Kumar Amrohi and Bilal Amrohi, who are his niece and nephew and are associated with the film as producers. He wrote in the caption, “Dear Saachi and Bilal, all the best for your new venture. May it be a successful one! Love always, from Sanjay Mamu. It's a must-watch.”

Kamal and Meena got married in 1951 and collaborated on some films together. Apart from being an actor, Meena was also a poet, writing under the pseudonym Naaz.

Kamal aur Meena is scheduled to be released in theatres in 2026. More details from the project are awaited.
