Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe is going to get a ‘bloody’ love story. The makers on Wednesday took to social media to announce Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film will be helmed by Munjya director Aditya Sarpotdar. It is slated to release on Diwali next year.

Maddock Films, the production house backing Thama, took to Instagram to share an announcement video for the film. “Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe needed a love story... unfortunately, it’s a bloody one. Brace yourselves for #Thama - Diwali 2025!”

As per reports, Thama was previously titled Vampires of Vijaynagar and will feature Ayushmann as a fanged bloodsucker. The actor even teased his fans about his look on Instagram a day before the official announcement. He shared a photo of himself and used a vampire filter, with red eyes and blood dropping from his mouth.

As reported by Pinkvilla earlier, Thama is expected to be set in two different time periods - the present north Indian city and the Vijayanagara Empire. Nawaz plays the main antagonist, a violent character from centuries ago who is looking to take revenge in the present time.

The film will be written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew and Arun Fulara.
