Nikkhil Advani revealed recently that Shah Rukh Khan was disappointed with his helicopter entry scene in Karan Johar’s romantic-drama, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). The filmmaker also said that Shah Rukh hates love stories and wanted to do something different. The two worked together on Kal Na Ho Naa Ho (2003) which was helmed by Nikkhil. He was also the associate director on Shah Rukh’s earlier films, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi…
In an interview with Cyrus Says, Nikkhil talked about the superstar and said, “Shah Rukh and I used to have these conversations so many times that ‘Karan and Adi only do love story, let us do something different.’ Shah Rukh hates love stories. Considering that he is known as King Khan and King of romance, this and that, but he hates love stories. Dil Se.. (1998) is his favourite film. He keeps talking about his favourite sequences from the films Hey Ram (2000) and Darr (1993). He loves his film Ram Jaane (1995), where he is wearing a head band.”
He also spilled the beans on why Shah Rukh has been given credit for 'thrills' for his films. “It is because he treated the basketball sequence in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai like an action scene. He choreographed it”, he said.
He added that the actor was disappointed with the helicopter scene in K3G and said, “When we told him that his entry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is with the helicopter, he thought he is going to jump off the helicopter, while he just had to step down. The scene was more about Jaya Bachchan that she gets to know about the arrival of her son as soon as he touches the ground.”
On the work front, Shah Rukh will be seen next in Sujoy Ghosh’s actioner King, which also stars his daughter Suhana Khan.
