Kiran Rao recently revealed in an interview that she is working on a horror film next. The director revealed that she is currently developing a bunch of different stories which she has been ideating over the years.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kiran confirmed that she is working on a horror film. “I am trying very hard to work on it. It is a supernatural thriller but little more like a scary fairy tale. I don’t want to say too many things about it before we finish writing it. We have to write it first.”

In the same conversation, Aamir pitched in to say that Kiran is working on some more stories and it is difficult to say if the horror film is going to be her next film. Kiran said that she has been writing for the past 10-12 years. “People ask me where I have been (since her debut film Dhobi Ghat which released in 2010), but all I have been doing is developing projects to some degree. And now, we have found some great writers to attach to some of them. So, I have some 3-4 ideas that we are developing and we don’t know which one we will be able to get on the floor first.”

She added that all the ideas are varied in genre. “I really like that when I am shifting from one story to the other, different parts of my mind are being used. So, there are lots of fun things coming down the road.”

Meanwhile, Kiran and Aamir have started the Oscars 2025 campaign for Laapataa Ladies as it was selected earlier to be India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. They recently unveiled a new title and poster for the film and it will be called Lost Ladies in the international markets. The film was released in theatres earlier this year in March.
