Amidst US election results, actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, who is also close friends with Alia Bhatt, recently put up an Instagram story and stunned fans. The picture showed her with an “I voted” sticker and a Kamala Harris icon, indicating her support for the Democratic candidate.

Many internet users were surprised to know that the Mumbai-based actor is a US citizen. “Akansha Ranjan Kapoor is a US citizen??” read a post on Reddit that has received dozens of surprised comments. The post triggered further comments about other India-based celebrities who hold citizenship of other countries. Akansha’s best friend, Alia Bhatt, for instance, holds a British passport, while Akshay Kumar recently gave up his Canadian passport.

Akansha is the daughter of actor-director Shashi Ranjan and his wife Anu Ranjan. She made her debut with the Netflix film Guilty (2020) and also had a minor role in the thriller Monica, O My Darling (2022). She was recently seen in a blink-and-miss role of a flight attendant in Alia’s latest Jigra.
