Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan is gearing up for its release on Eid, April 10, after numerous delays.

Director of the film Amit Sharma revealed why Priyamani replaced Keerthy Suresh. While it was believed that Keerthy exited from the project owing to "age issues", the film's director said he had imagined a certain look for Rahim's wife but Keerthy had lost a lot of weight and he had to pick Priyamani as she was the right pick for the role.

Maidaan starring Ajay Devgn and Priyamani as the lead pair, also has Rudranil Ghosh and Gajraj Rao on the roll call. The film is a biopic sports drama based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, the Indian football team coach from 1952 to 1962.

Cinematographers Tushar Kanti Ray and Fyodor Lyass (sports portions), editor Dev Rao Jadhav and Shahnawaz Mosani (sports portions), and music director AR Rahman.

Maidaan, produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor's Bayview Projects, will lock horns with Akshay Kumar's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan on Eid (April 10).
