Tahira Kashyap Khurrana’s debut feature directorial Sharmajee Ki Beti will have its premiere on Prime Video on June 28. The film is a slice-of-life comedy starring Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles, along with, Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta, Sharib Hashmi and Parvin Dabas.

As per the film’s official synopsis, it is a” light-hearted and heartwarming movie, which explores relevant themes of women’s empowerment and the challenges faced by them. Through the multi-generational lens of three middle-class women and two teenage girls– all sharing the common surname ‘Sharma’, the film delves into their unique experiences and struggles.”

The film marks Tahira’s feature film debut. Previously the director has helmed short films like Toffee (2017) starring her husband, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, Pinni, which was part of the anthology Zindagi in Short (2020) and Quaranteen Love, a Covid-romance tale, which was part of the anthology Feels Like Ishq (2021). Tahira is also an author and has penned satirical books like the 12 Commandments of Being a Woman and The 7 Sins of Being a Mother and also Ayushmann’s biography Cracking the Code: My Journey in Bollywood.
