Bhumi Pednekar, who was last seen in the role of a fierce journalist in Netflix’s Bhakshak, will soon be playing a cop for the first time in the Prime Video series Daldal.

Talking about her role, the actor said she loves Daldal because she gets to play a character that will shatter the societal glass-ceiling that women have to endure.

“It is a project that encapsulates all these qualities of being a woman. Rita is a super achiever, a glass-ceiling breaker, a rewriter of rules in a man’s world. She is ambitious, ferociously passionate about her job and leads from the front. These are the kinds of women I idolise and I am thrilled to headline a series like this on a global streaming platform like Amazon.”

She add, “I have started shooting for the project and I can already tell you that it will be one of my most challenging roles ever.”

Daldal is directed by Amrit Raj Gupta and is an adaptation of the book Bhendi Bazaar by Vish Dhamija. It is written by Priya Saggi, Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D’Souza and Hussain Haidry. It is backed by Abundantia Entertainment with Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni serving as executive producers.
